About OMPEK

OMPEK (Ontologies for Modeling Process Engineering Knowledge) is an international effort to develop and maintain free, publicly available ontologies to be used in modeling knowledge useful in process engineering applications. The first step will be to develop a common foundation ontology from which other ontologies can be derived. Then a collaborative space will be provided that allows world-wide experts to criticize, evaluate, and improve the ontologies. Anybody will be able to start and coordinate specific projects as long as the ontologies remain available as Open Content to facilitate the release of enhanced versions in a well-maintained fashion.
