What is OMPEK? What is an ontology? Ontology Library Work Groups Status Contact Documentation Related Links |
Welcome! The objective of the OMPEK (Ontologies for Modeling Process Engineering Knowledge) project is to develop free, public standard ontologies for the process-engineering domain that facilitates software interoperability, intelligent queries for information search, and inferencing. The development of the ontologies is based on an upper ontology that defines general-purpose concepts and acts as a foundation for more specific domains. OMPEK aims to cover areas such as substances, physicochemical processes, production plans and operation, processing equipment, human systems and value-chains. OMPEK aims at developing foundation ontologies that can be incorporated (and extendend) in knowledge-based applications found in the process engineering domain. OMPEK is being developed in DAML+OIL/OWL and it will be available as Open Content to facilitate the development of enhanced releases of the ontology in freely available, high-quality, well-maintained fashion. For information on DAML+OIL see: DAML+OIL specifications For information on OWL see: OWL Web Ontology Language Reference For information on Open Content see: Open Content List For further information To browse a text-only version of this page please Click Here |
